I Have Shineth My Boogie Shoes.

So this weekend I have friends coming into town, and I am so excited that I could pretty much just pee.
While I am sure that I come across as a very cool, calm, and collected individual who is hip and happening and has no shortage of company and wild, lascivious evenings and friends with whom to share them; the truth is that your Jen is in fact a quite lonely individual who, aside from a couple of hours of karaoke on Thursday nights, speaks to no one, not one single person, during the week except for her son, her mother, and her elderly neighbors.
And doctors. Can’t forget the fucking doctors.
And occasionally the fine folks from Social Security.
And certainly the student loan people.
Maybe I have more friends than I thought.
Heh.
I used to be one of those people with an amazing social life that went out six nights per week, dated someone different and exciting and new at my every whim, and basically knew fifty people wherever I went, but that was when I drove, and while you might not think it to be true, once you stop driving, your social life goes swirling directly down the shitter.
You may think you have a huge pack of friends, but less so when you’re not mobile, and even less so when you’re suddenly out of the loop.
My last five years have definitely been out of the loop. Plus, the few friends I retained have been doing grown-up things like getting married and having bebes and all that good stuff.
Cabin fever has become very, very real to me, and to the J-Man as well.
I have however, met some great people on the Intarweb, and we get together every year (or, if we’re lucky, a couple of times per year). I look forward to these events like you would not believe.
I don’t care whether this sounds geeky or not. I have had some of the best times of my life with these kids.
Therefore it is mind-blowingly exciting to me that Mare is coming (all the way from fucking CANADA!) and Fredlet (all the way from fucking CALIFORNIA!) and Kari and Wendy (from WISCONSIN, which is not so far, but STILL!) and other folks from other far places and I am going to have them HERE, in Chicago, for a whole weekend. Three days, bitches. You people are mine.
I am going to get to share a room with three of the people I love most and get to see least, and, and this is enough to make me fear that I am going to start humping people’s legs like a goddamn cocker spaniel.
This is the ugly face of social deprivation, people. This is what happens when you don’t get out of the house. E-mail becomes your lifeline and you turn into a slobbering fool when faced with actual live people.
Ask my friends who is usually the last person to leave the karaoke bar.
Hm, I wonder why?
Anyway, I get to show off my Chicago (although not my neighborhood, for Christ’s sake, because it is bleh) and I am just thrilled to the bone. Good times.
I am already praying to God or Dog or Nietzsche or Whoever for good juju and a total lack of seizure or heart problem or whatever-the-fuck activity.
For just one weekend, Power That Bees, just let me have a good fucking time. I will take my medicine as directed and be a good girl, just let me have a good time and not be sick and tired and craptastic.
I’m so ready for a great weekend.

Hey, have fun with those guys. Uh, I have a kind of stupid question: does your recent heart diagnosis mean that you never had Bickerstaff’s Brainstem Encephalitis? (I know the diagnosis had “Bickerstaff’s” in it; I apologize if I butchered the rest of it.) Sorry to be so thick — I know if I were a more attentive reader I would probably ahve figured this out.
