Dear Neighbors,
You should all know by now that I don’t rake my leaves until every last one has fallen because I am an efficient human being who prefers to do the entire job in one fell swoop.
You should also know that a fair amount of them are going to blow into your yards, thereby rendering your early raking efforts completely useless.
This is not my intention. It is simply Nature’s Way.
It’s almost time. I will be out there soon, and one of you will probably be picking me up out of the leaves when I fall down, as per usual.
I know that you all watch me from the windows when I am undertaking any yard-ish task because you know I will not be conscious for long. You have all become honorary paramedics, and I greatly appreciate your efforts.
Please, just quit with the raking, OK? You’re just getting frustrated, and it’s just making me and my giant trees feel like assholes.
Also, if I come to rake your yard, just let me rake your yard. It’s my way of doing penance. Plus I need the exercise.

bah. no need to rake. the snow covers up the leaves nicely and they’re usually all disintegrated by the time spring arrives. the real exercise comes from shoveling!

Fallen leaves = mulch. Leave em til spring and they have been useful and have been reduced by time and the waves of wind and run off. Not that I am trying to poo poo your exercise program but if you have other options that are a bit less public it is a thought.
