Bullshit and I both have strep throat. He has a hundred and four degree fever, and mine is a hundred and one.
Bullshit, winning the fever war.
My doctor is of course out of town for the damned week and the M.O. of the ghetto clinic is to find a doctor with a completely full schedule to fill in for the absent doctor, so apparently I’m screwed until next week.
One has to get sick in a timely manner when dealing with the ghetto clinic, or one is fucked.
In other news, I am getting in to see a new neurologist - the uncle of a lawyer that my mother works with who is supposed to be very reputable.
I can no longer see neurologists at Big Fancy U on an outpatient basis since Big Fancy U no longer accepts my breed of insurance, but if I had to be hospitalized they would accept my Medicare from disability and I would have the option to see them at that point.
Insurance is just peachy. Why, I could just sit around and wipe my ass with insurance forms all day long.
I went in to have the blood testing that the endocrinologist wanted done early yesterday morning after fasting for twelve hours and having no coffee or Diet Coke or caffeine of any kind and generally wanting to drop dead by hour three.
After already having a good fifteen of those fucking little vials filled, I had to drink some nasty-ass sugary glucose drink and then have my blood re-drawn four times, every half an hour for two hours. This gave me time to catch up on my Time magazines and my US News and World Reports, and it also gave me time to thank God that I only had to bring the J-Man in for blood testing one time when he was small.
A succession of small children were brought into the lab, all with the same result:

Those little suckers are squirmy and hard to hold down, too. I know. I used to have to hold my kid in a headlock to get his hair cut, of all things.
They would emerge minutes later, tearfully, clutching suckers, glaring at their visibly shaken parents as if to say, “You suck.”
The parent in me sympathized with the adults, but the kid in me thought that the unwarned, put-upon kids should definitely ask for a milkshake on the way home as well.
Anyway, I am now copy-paper white and completely lacking in blood, having been drained by phlebotomist vampires. I got copies of all my recent tests from the local hospital when I went in for all that, including some MRIs on discs that I am having fun playing with.
I am going to gargle some salt water and then I am going back to bed.

I had one of those tests performed when I was 20. Only it was 8 hours and blood drawn 14 times. Yeah, it was fun. I read The Exorcist while I was in there.
