Neue Neuro.

So I went to the new Big Shit neuro today and was pleasantly surprised to find him very affable, willing to listen to my litany of complaints and questions, pleased to take on my three-inch thick file of medical history and test results, and also just plain interested to find out what the hell is wrong with me.
That, or he’s an incredibly good liar.
I suppose I was there for my second second opinion, or perhaps a ninetieth opinion, if you count all the Ones Who Gave Not A Fig or Had Not A Clue. I have been diagnosed with neurocardiogenic syncope, which accounts for the Heartfuck and passing out; basilar artery migraine (Bickerstaff’s Disease) which accounts for the Fuckbrain and vision loss; and, lately, Shy-Drager Syndrome; which is fatal.
Obviously I have not been too comfortable with the fatal thing.
The new guy doesn’t agree with the Shy-Drager bit, thank God. After reading through all my test results and putting me through the rounds of office tests he does feel that I do have some sort of degenerative autonomic nervous system disease. This would be similar to Shy-Drager, but not Shy-Drager itself, which usually presents in the elderly and does not necessarily account for visual problems. Therefore I am hopefully not ready to croak quite yet.
Today I had dropping blood pressure, a weak right side, screwy reflexes, couldn’t feel the needle sticks in many spots (this is bad?), couldn’t stand with my eyes closed without falling, and generally flunked the office neuro exam. I always flunk the office exam.
On the written exam I’m a fucking genius.
Regardless of my book smahts, I’m off to the hospital next week for yet more testing so that we can figure out what the hell is up.
I can’t wait to have electricity passed through needles in my feet. I am simply shivering in anticipation as you may well imagine.
